Primate Delivers Invocation at ARPA Institute's 33rd Anniversary Gala and Education Expo - Dedicated to the 80th Jubilee of ARPA Institute's Founder Dr. Hagop Panossian
Published - 23 May 2025

ARPA Institute's 33rd anniversary Gala and the 80th birthday celebration of its visionary founder and lifetime president Dr. Hagop Panossian was held on May 10, 2025 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. The event brought together 250 distinguished guests, including leading scientists, business executives and scholars from Armenia and around the world.

For more than 30 years, the ARPA Institute has been a driving force behind transformative initiatives in Armenia, spearheading impactful advancements in science, education, healthcare and technology. Some of ARPA's pioneering projects include the STEMAr Project, which trains teachers in project-based learning for highs school students across 19 schools, providing Science Kits to facilitate research and experimentation. The Institute has also established the "Centre of Excellence for Circuit Design", where 47 graduate students are being trained in advanced circuit design using CADENCE Systems software, with support from CISCO Systems. Additionally, the ARPA Institute is certifying its Cleanroom at the Alikhanyan National Lab, enabling advanced solar cell experiments under the guidance of Distinguished Professor Dr. Ara Apkarian from UCI. These experiments have demonstrated significant increases in silicon's light absorption, potentially making it competitive with petroleum. The annual Invention Competition, now in its 18th year, will have the President of Armenia awarding $10,000 to two winning teams. Furthermore, the newly established Detection Lab at the Alikhanyan National Lab is developing a device to separate scintillation from Cherenkov radiation using 3D printing and Arduino technology and is making progress on a spectrometer for an innovative aerogel detector.

The gala celebrated ARPA Institutes legacy and showcased its impactful initiatives. It featured Students and Teachers from Armenia who are beneficiaries of the ARPA Institute's STEMAr Program in 19 schools in Armenia. The MC of the Event will be the Sona Movsesian, the famous Conan O'Brien's Assistant. Music and songs will be provided by the well-known Element Band and BeiRu.
